Our Memberships and Accreditations

Building relationships and celebrating our excellence

Working in collaboration since 1987

We are proud of our venerable and long-standing relationship within the steel industry. Establishing our roots with the former British Steel in 1988, we have continued to have a fervent and trusted presence in the steel industry ever since.

Tata Steel

Now in our fourth decade, Composite Profiles is one of only three metal decking specialists in the UK to be selected as a strategic partner and approved contractor of Tata Steel. We are authorised to supply and install Tata Steel’s full range of specialist ComFlor® profiled steel deck and RoofDek structural roof deck products to the UK construction industry.

Tata Steel is Europe’s second largest steel producer with their main steelmaking operations in the UK and Netherlands and is one of the world’s top ten steel producers. Tata Steel’s European operations were formerly known as Corus, which was formed through the merger of British Steel and Koninklijke Hoogovens in 1999.

Investors in People (IIP) Gold Award 2016 – 2019

In 2016, Composite Profiles achieved the prestigious and rarely awarded (only 3% of UK companies) Investors in People Gold Award! This is a tremendous result following our Silver Award in 2013. To hold this accreditation until 2019 by such a highly-regarded external organisation, demonstrates how we live by our core value ‘Building Team Spirit’.

Achieving IIP Gold also exemplifies how Composite Profiles is actively leading the way in modern management within the steel construction industry and following our strategic goal to ‘Build Excellence and interweave it into everything we say and do’.

Business Coach award

ActionCOACH Business Excellence Awards: Best Company Culture

In 2018, Composite Profiles was nationally recognised for our unique company culture, winning the ActionCOACH Business Excellence Award for Best Company Culture against 4 other worthy finalists. Winning this award proves that not only are we living by our company value of ‘Building Excellence’ but we are also positively changing the culture in construction.

Trained & certified for the best practice

CHAS is a non-commercial organisation created by experienced health and safety professionals in 1997 to improve health and safety standards across the UK.

Having the CHAS Standard means that Composite Profiles has an effective Health & Safety Policy in force with sufficient resources in place for proper implementation. We are cooperative and accessible for regular inspection by CHAS, specifically relevant to the risks of working with equipment at height, first aid implementation and fire risk management.

A result of working with CHAS and Investors in People is our creation of a Health and Safety Champion and a Wellbeing Champion, which was a contributing factor in us receiving the ActionCOACH Best Company Culture award in 2018.

All Composite Profiles’ site personnel have been trained and certified by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). The CSCS was set up to ensure that the construction industry improves quality and reduces accidents. The holder of a CSCS Card must pass the relevant CITB-Construction Skills Health & Safety Test demonstrating occupational and safety competence.

All Safety Net installations and Fall Arrest systems undertaken by Composite Profiles are to FASET standards. FASET is the trade association and training body for the Safety Net Rigging and Fall Arrest Industry with international recognition. We follow the FASET guidelines for good practice and training to ensure safe site installations. Protecting people is the central focus for all our operations.

As one of the construction industry’s largest suppliers of fixings and tools, the Hilti Corporation is well-placed to provide training for site teams.

Composite Profiles’ installation teams utilise the latest Hilti GX3, DX460 and DX76 tools, all fixings used are in accordance with the Tata Steel guidelines, full training and support is provided directly from Hilti.

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide. It is a not-for-profit organisation, owned by its members, providing the training standard for operatives using Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

All Composite Profiles’ operatives have undertaken the IPAF training programme, which is certified by TÜV as conforming to ISO 18878.
