“Development and training of the team to ensure we maximise their abilities and in-turn drive business development makes us very proud. To invest in junior members of the team, including CMI Level 7 & 5 Management Courses, and watch them become Directors is a great achievement.”
Mark Norton, Managing Director, Composite Profiles UK

YOUR CAREER WITH US
Leading the way in Building Excellence in Construction
What is it like working for Composite Profiles?
We face the same problems and challenges as many businesses; our difference is the way we approach them. There is a high degree of trust and mutual respect with a leader-leader style approach to resolving issues. Challenges are often shared across the whole company to ensure the best outcome. There is no blame culture, only one of continuous learning and a drive for improvements, no matter how marginal.
What is the Life-Work Balance like?
The health and wellbeing of our team is of paramount importance. Work-life balance is encouraged, as we believe it’s the only long-term sustainable environment. For team members with children, it’s almost mandatory to attend school sports days and nativity performances! Everyone is encouraged to leave the office on time and to take proper lunch breaks (many visit a gym). Healthy eating is also encouraged with a fruit bowl and Fitbits provided for everyone.
Is it a good place to work?
‘Building Excellence through Team Spirit’ is one of our Pillars of Excellence. We have a unique, genuinely caring and supportive culture and, as a result, have very low staff turnover. We are one of only 3% of UK businesses to have achieved an Investors in People Gold award demonstrating how we really do put our people first.
“Our office is hardworking but also relaxed, we are often pretty noisy as everyone gets on so well and we are constantly throwing ideas around. We aim to form relationships with everybody and are well known and respected in the industry.”
Joel Nurser, Operations Director, Composite Profiles UK
How do you measure success?
We hold quarterly One-2-Ones where all team members are given time with their senior manager to discuss success, improvements and training opportunities. A skills matrix is self-scored and updated every six months, and then used in the One-2-Ones to create training objectives that match the company’s strategic plans and values. There is a strong emphasis on each team member taking ownership of their own personal development, with full support.
Our annual Building Excellence Day is a great opportunity to celebrate shared successes, reflect and illustrate how individual development will be utilised to build on the business’ future success plans. These strategy days are always carried out imaginatively and with a high degree of fun, participation and enjoyment. The last one was centred around a local scavenger hunt, during which time business improvement ideas carried maximum points!
The progression of the team is key to meeting our plans for growth and success, with our family values instrumental in achieving this. The whole team is made to feel like family and the culture that is created by all staff is highly constructive to our success.
